In Recovery From: Anorexia Nervosa
#1 Reason To Recover: To begin to live again.
Why Did You Decide To Recover:
I decided to recover because I was so sick of feeling awful physically and mentally all the time. I was so out of control and sometimes I didn’t even notice because I was so caught up in it. The mental torture of Anorexia Nervosa was painful and I’d had enough of feeling crap all the time.
Best Things About Recovery:
Feeling free to do whatever you feel like, eat whatever you feel like. All of the scared and anxious feelings about food went away and I was finally free to eat like ‘normal’ people do and that feeling of freedom feels amazing. I don’t feel I need to work anything off, I can even gain weight now and still accept myself as an okay human being.
Hardest Part About Recovery:
Relapsing, getting over all the habits and accepting weight gain.
Don’t ever stop fighting. The best thing you can ever do is fight those thoughts and feelings everyday. It will get tiring, but trust me you won’t regret it once you start recovering, you will look back and be glad you fought all the way.
Get help and reach out. Getting help is a massive step towards recovery, so please make that call, tell your parents, tell a friend, tell someone you trust.
Relapsing is not a failure, it means you tried which means it will be a bit easier next time to recover and the relapses will become less frequent and then eventually not at all.
You will get there, no matter how long it takes, keep fighting, don’t give up, I promise you recovery feels absolutely amazing and the freedom you receive you could never explain. Please be kind to yourself, don’t believe the silly thoughts, and tell yourself ‘I AM BEAUTIFUL’ because you are.
